2023 Bronze Award Office Design
This former mall, converted to office space, in downtown Milwaukee came to us looking for biophilic solutions for their space. The feel in the remodeled space was a little sterile, with all white and concrete finishes. They had limited floor space so we had to come up with solutions that would allow space for foot traffic around the office while still bringing nature indoors. One of our solutions was to provide two large moss art installations, which were custom designed and fabricated completely by our in house design team. We made use of a half wall planter dividing a portion of the office by installing forty-four Sansevieria. Another challenge we faced was a lack of natural light in internal private offices. In order to continue the connection to nature, we installed sixteen single orchid programs in each office, which get changed out every 6 – 8 weeks.

We were given complete design freedom in coming up with the moss art. Our designer here has always wanted to create a geometric patterned moss art piece with angular wood slats. She started sketching concepts and the client loved it. Moss circles, especially those that wrap around walls, are always a great challenge to execute, but provide such a unique visual feel. Over all the finished product was well received by the client.
