Artificial Plantings

Love them or hate them, they serve a purpose in the contract and commercial world!

Many buildings and companies aren’t able to accommodate lives plants for several reasons, therefore they rely on artificial plants to add the look and feel of greenery to their spaces. Some of these restrictions include:

Low or no light:

Low or no light can be an issue for plant survival and really limit the variety of live plants available for the space. Artificial plants are a great solution for this and can have very creative results.

Limited access to space:

Some spaces can be hard to access because of security restrictions or patient confidentiality and for this, artificial make a lot of sense since they are low maintenance and would only require cleaning twice a year.

Before

This area would be hard to access live plants.

After

Adding artificial plants, moss and rock creates a soothing scape under the stairs.

Some folks don’t like live plants:

Well, maybe that’s a stretch, but some companies would rather limit the amount of services that come with live plants. Live plants, as we know are very beneficial to our health and improve work place fatigue, but do come with more maintenance: water, light, air flow, and pest control.

Fire code:

Artificial plants are often made of wire and resin, glue and paper, silk and polyester. These materials are also commonly flammable and can be made flame retardant in two ways, inherent and sprayed foliage. Inherent flame retardant plants are infused with a flame retardant mixture during a manufacturing process. IFR is safer and more effective then topical sprays which require a bit more maintained and care. Sprayed foliage is applied by hand and is water soluble therefore needs to be dry dusted and cleaned by a specialist.

Before

Seen here are fire retardant artificial grasses that had faded over time.

After

The new fire retardant grasses and moss give this location a fresh new look.
